MBIE's Temporary Accommodation Service (TAS) connects communities in need with temporary accommodation if they've been displaced from their homes after a civil-defence emergency.
The unprecedented scale and urgency of the response to Cyclone Gabrielle and the Auckland Floods in 2023 placed unique demand on TAS. In response, the TAS team sought surge support from MartinJenkins for its operational systems and processes, both for managing current events and preparing for future emergencies.
Our team supported TAS through several initiatives, including providing strategic advice, streamlining internal processes, and helping with cross-agency collaboration on solutions for households facing duplicate housing costs. Our team also assisted with implementing standardised policies to ensure consistent support for displaced households and improve coordination with partner agencies.
