Marcus provides writing and editing expertise for MartinJenkins’ reports, proposals, and published articles. He makes sure they’re accessible and engaging, and built around a clear, persuasive narrative.
Marcus learned Plain English writing the hard way, editing legal textbooks written by leading lawyers and academics. At MartinJenkins he focusses on supporting our people to write in language that’s both accessible and precise, and to avoid and go beyond the narrow, sleep-inducing vocabulary favoured by business-speak.
Before he started working for us full-time, Marcus was for some years a key writer for the Community Law Manual, an online guide aimed at ordinary New Zealanders and community groups. Marcus has also researched and written legal textbooks for lawyers and law students.
