Consulting

Jason specialises in economic and financial analysis, capital-asset management, and public-sector financial management. But he often calls himself a “practical economist”, in that a big part of his work is taking complex economic topics and translating them into something a normal human can understand.

A senior strategic policy adviser with a relaxed, engaging working style, Jason has a successful record supporting significant reform programmes and public-finance management. He’s particularly adept at separating out what’s important for decision-makers from the unnecessary detail.

Jason has a wealth of knowledge and experience developing business cases and Budget bids to support reform.

Examples of Jason's work

  • Financial and economic analysis for horizontal and vertical infrastructure projects and proposals, including many of the Roads of National Significance (RoNS) and water infrastructure projects
  • Advising clients on PPP funding and financing and on how to assess and present the case for alternative procurement approaches to agencies, boards, and ministers
  • Supporting development of business cases, including the necessary economic and financial analysis – for example, for the Milford Opportunities Project, a proposal to significantly re-develop Piopiotahi Milford Sound.
