Consulting

Our top communications and engagement specialist, Paul helps clients tell their stories and get crucial input from customers and stakeholders – including on contentious issues and from communities who can be hard to reach.

Paul (Ngāti Kahungunu) helps his clients better understand their customers and stakeholders, to inform their strategies and planning. He works with clients to design and deliver more customer-centric services and more meaningful ongoing interactions with their stakeholders.

Paul has had a lot of experience working on complex topics, such as the Ministry of Health’s response to COVID-19, energy hardship, adoption law reform, and regional business development. His work also often involves connecting with communities and people who haven’t traditionally interacted with government agencies and service providers.

He has also worked in media production and liaison, programme management, and customer and community dialogue.

Examples of Paul's work

  • New work programmes – developing strategic narratives and engagement strategies for new programmes in areas such as telecommunications, energy regulation, and financial-planning services
  • Economic-development projects – engaging comprehensively with stakeholders and community groups, including iwi and business leaders, to inform numerous regional projects, ranging from opportunities research to prioritising infrastructure spending
  • Complex policy issues – engaging with communities and individuals to inform policy, including with Pacific and Māori communities to inform adoption law reform, with low-paid workers to find out their careers information needs, and with people experiencing energy hardship to identify funding benefits.
